Creation of artificial reefs and coral restoration along the North West Coast
Project Objective
To create new dive and snorkel sites in the north of the island, by establishing artificial reefs, coral restoration activities and training of youngsters in scuba diving and coral restoration skills allowing them to participate in the project.

• 10 persons certified as PADI Rescue Divers and PADI Reef Rescue Divers
• 3 persons completed SLASPA’s Boat Captain Training
• 3 persons completed SLASPA’s Boat Crew Training
• Baseline study conducted for fish count and water quality testing at sites
• 4 vessels acquired and sunk for use as artificial reefs
• 8 trees and 3 bi-rock structures planted
• 500 fragments populated on the trees
